Copyright Policy

SAER Journal follows an open access publishing model that allows authors to retain copyright in their scholarly work. Unless otherwise required by applicable law or a valid agreement, copyright in articles published by the journal remains with the author or authors.

1. Copyright Ownership

Unless expressly stated otherwise, copyright in articles published in SAER Journal is retained by the author or authors. Submission or publication of a manuscript does not constitute a complete transfer of copyright to SAER Journal.

Where copyright is owned by an employer, institution, or another rights holder, authors are responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions and accurately informing the journal of the relevant ownership status.

2. Rights Granted to the Journal

Upon acceptance, authors grant SAER Journal the non-exclusive rights necessary to publish the article, make it publicly available online, archive it, index it, and distribute it for purposes of scholarly communication.

This permission does not prevent authors from retaining copyright or reusing and sharing their work in other scholarly environments in accordance with the journal's open access and licensing terms.

3. Relationship with the Open Access License

Unless expressly stated otherwise, articles published in SAER Journal are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Author copyright ownership and publication under a CC BY 4.0 open license are distinct but compatible arrangements. Authors retain copyright while readers and other users may share, reproduce, distribute, adapt, and reuse the work in accordance with the terms of the license.

4. Authors' Rights

Authors may use and share their published work on personal or institutional websites, institutional repositories, scholarly networks, educational settings, and other appropriate academic platforms.

When the published version is reused, appropriate reference should be made to the original publication in SAER Journal, including bibliographic details and, where available, the DOI or other persistent link.

5. Moral Rights

Authors retain any moral rights available to them under applicable law, including rights relating to attribution and protection of the integrity of their work.

The journal's open access license does not remove the requirement to identify and credit the original author or authors.

6. Third-Party Materials

Figures, tables, photographs, scales, datasets, illustrations, or other materials included in an article that are not owned by the authors may be subject to separate copyright or licensing conditions.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use copyrighted third-party material, providing appropriate attribution, and clearly identifying any special terms of use that apply.

The inclusion of third-party material in an article does not automatically place that material under the article's CC BY 4.0 license. Material excluded from the article's open license must be identified appropriately.

7. Permissions and Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that they own the submitted work or possess the rights and permissions necessary for its publication. Authors are responsible for copyright infringement, unauthorized use of protected material, or failure to obtain required permissions.

The editor may request documentary evidence of permission to use third-party material where considered necessary.

8. Republication and Translation

Translation, republication, or reuse of material published in SAER Journal must comply with the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license. The original publication must be clearly identified.

Reused or translated material must not be presented in a manner that creates the impression that it constitutes a new or independent first publication of the original work.

9. Journal Website and Article Copyright

Rights in the SAER Journal website design, logo, visual identity, software components, and other journal-specific materials are separate from the copyright and open access terms applicable to published scholarly articles.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, the open access license applied to an article does not authorize reuse of the journal's logo, trademarks, or website design.

10. Applicable Law

Copyright matters are considered, where applicable, in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, including Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works.

This policy describes the journal's general publishing principles. Applicable legislation, contractual terms, and third-party rights may require additional consideration in individual cases.

11. Policy Updates

SAER Journal may review and update this policy in response to developments in open access publishing, Creative Commons licensing, intellectual property law, and scholarly communication practices.
