SAER Journal welcomes studies addressing different scales and research problems across architecture, planning and design.
A range of research approaches may be considered, including design research, spatial analysis, field studies, modelling and social science methods.
Studies at the intersections of architecture and planning with engineering, environmental sciences, social sciences, health, technology, art and sustainability fall within the scope of the journal.
Healthy cities, smart cities, accessible design, climate-resilient settlements, digital fabrication and human-space interaction are examples of such interdisciplinary areas.
Studies are expected to clearly define the research or design problem, justify the methodology and discuss the findings in relation to the relevant literature and context.
Research involving human participants, user data, field studies or protected and conservation areas must comply with applicable ethical and institutional approval requirements.
Visuals, plans, drawings, maps and other materials must be used in accordance with copyright, attribution and research integrity principles.
